ABOUT US

Twitch was established in July of 1991 by Jim Hopkins, Mike Wertheim and Randall Erkelens. When we started the record label, we produced remix compilations for subscribing DJ's seeking alternate mixes of current underground dance music. We released a total of 14 vinyl issues and 10 CD's in that series. In July of 1995, we discontinued the remix service series and started releasing 12" vinyl singles of our own tracks as well as tracks by other San Francisco producers.

Rumors have floated around over the years that we were a bootleg remix service. This was not the case. We were a promotional service that helped record labels promote their artists and helped unsigned artists get their music into the DJ's hands. We pressed under 1000 copies of each issue and were granted permission to release their material on our compilations. Due to the limited pressings, we basically made enough money to get our next issue out and pay our operating bills. We did it for the love of music, to promote new artists, and to make DJ friendly versions of tracks available to DJs.

We currently release 12" vinyl singles, digital downloads, compilation CD's, DJ Mix CDs, visual DVDs, beat matched music video mixes by VJ Jim Hopkins, and a DJ mixing tool series entitled "Loops, Grooves & Samples." Our back catalog releases are also available as digital downloads from Beatport.

Our current catalog consists of the following styles of dance music: Funky Breakbeat, Funky Acid Breaks, Disco House and Hard House. Check our
online store for available backstock items!

We have also branched out into serving up video online. We had a video podcast in the Itunes music store, but they found us to be too controversial and pulled our link. We were also serving up our videos on Youtube but the corporate conservatives banned us twice and took our pages down. We have set up our video podcast on our server for our fans to access with their web browser.
